ROLL CALL: Where are we from?

PostPosted: Mar 21, 2005 9:37 pm

Hello to all those that live outside of the US!

It's been rather quiet in this folder lately, so Natalie and I thought that maybe doing a roll call would liven things up around here! :)

If you can let us know where you are from and what stage you are currently at (preparing for HG, ttc, pregnant, new mom etc) we will hopefully be able to support each other better!

I'm also going to resurrect the sticky about what medications women outside the US are taking or have taken. If you could reply to that post too, it will help us compile a country by country resource on what treatment options are available to women who have HG.

Thanks!

Joanna

I'm Holly. :D I live in Durham, UK. I'd love to meet some of the other mums in the UK, but it seems most of you are in the south. I think I saw someone from Newcastle Upon Tyne once. It would be fun to have a get together somewhere central sometime.

My youngest is 14 months old and is soooo fun right now! His name is Jonathan and he just learned to walk! Although I won't be having anymore babies, I'd love to encourage anyone who is still in the thick of things. I'm also interested in raising hg awareness here in the UK and am working on getting information out (hopefully) through the National Childbirth Trust to expectant mums and their families. I haven't had any luck with the local hospital or midwives -- but I'll keep trying.

Love, Holly

Hi, I'm Hannah. I live in Australia (Adelaide). I'm at present 36 and a half weeks pregnant. I've had HG all the way through, though the Zofran has kept it mostly controlled since about 20 weeks. This is my first.

HI Holly,

I just wanted to let you know that I am originally from Durham. Born there and bred til the grand old age of 8!! I moved to Australia (perth) at that time, and then to the states four years ago. I go back home to Engalnd quite regularly, but my family lives all over the county now.

So, I really belong nowhere (sob) but did just want you to know that there is a fellow Geordie among your mist.

I had one HG pregnancy in England, and was on the NHS (yay!) so I understand the difficulty of being in the UK with such a unknown condition.

Nice talking to you!!!!

Hi all
I am Christi. I am preparing for a move from the States to Japan. We are a military family, so where we will be and how long is never a known! :)
I am 28, have 2 kids: 7yo girl and a 3 1/2 yo boy. I am currently 9 weeks pregnant.
All pregnancies are SEVERE HG and all the way until the end. I am on Zofran, Unisom, B-6, Ginger, milk thistle (thought it couldnt hurt) and potassium supplements because I am on fluids a lot lately.
I fell like we need a pill with calories since that seems to be the only thing I swallow daily.
I look forward to getting to know you all! :)

Hi, I'm Helen, I'm 28 and live in Peterborough, UK. I'm almost 33 weeks with number one. Have tried various different things but seem to be doing ok on stemitil and vit B6. Was bedridden for the first 4 months, now I can get up and about, just feel yukky all the time (but actual sickness has stopped... Fingers crossed)

Hi, I'm Judy, I'm 37 years old and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I've had 2 HG pregnancies. I have two daughters, Rachel who is 2 and Jessica who is 10 months old.

Special hello to Joanna! I'm originally from Vancouver, B.C. (Burnaby to be precise). I married an Australian and have been living here for almost 13 years. Hope your next pregnancy is HG free. Good luck!

I'd like to one day do something to help raise awareness and support for people suffering from HG here. I feel like I need to do something positive with all the miserable experiences I had during my pregnancies.

To all of you who are still feeling lousy due to HG, I hope and pray you are feeling much better soon.

Thanks to all of you who have replied so far! It looks like there are lots of UKers and Aussies to support each other! That's wonderful! :D And I know there are some others lurking around on this site too that haven't replied to this post, so you've got lots of company here!

Judy, so glad to have someone on here from "close" to home! While there's been a lot of women from the UK and Australia/New Zealand joining in the past couple months, all the Canadians seem to have disappeared!!! Feeling a bit lonely here... :( So glad to have you around!

Best wishes to everyone...

Joanna

Hi,

My name is Mandy and I am from the UK, Bristol (very close to where Natalie lives). I have had 2 hg pregnancies and so now have a 5year old daughter and 3year old son. I have decided to limit our family size due to hg. I am happy to chat to and support others going through hg, or having the issues of limiting family size. If there's one good thing to come out of having had hg, I suppose it must be to be able to offer understanding and advice. Only if you've been there can you truely know what it's like.

Hi, I'm Trudy from New Zealand. I'm 31, married to Matt. I have had 2 HG pregnancies. 1st ending at 13 weeks mmc and 2nd HG ended at 23 weeks. We have a baby girl Beth who is 10 months. We have just started ttc again. Haven't done much to prepare other than discuss support needs with the inlaws. Medication wise I can't really prepare as getting meds here is difficult.

Looking forward to getting to know others.

Hi Kirsty, we are in Papamoa, Tauranga. Lol having a good Dr makes all the differnece doesn't it. I wasn't really under a specialist but saw several Dr's due to living in hospital. My 1st pg was in Taranaki (had a specialist there), 2nd in Tauranga and found the system quite different between the 2 DHB's. I am considering going under a specialist with the next one though cost will be a factor as most of the hospital ones are against giving medication in pregnancy. What meds does your Dr give you?

what a small world! I was born in Tauranga! my mum and dad and sister still live there. I am down there heaps! did you grow up there? I went to Tauranga Girls college, and Im 31.
I am only on maxalon and zantac for the acid. my dr is reluctant to prescribe anything else, but is very sympathetic and will follow my lead regarding hospitalisation etc as he says I know my body best.
if you want to get in touch and talk, my e-mail is bond@butch.co.nz

Nice to talk to you all,

Hi Im Emma
