What Color is your little ones Eyes and How bad was your HG

Postby pamedic » Aug 20, 2007 8:24 am

I was looking at all the cute babies in a couple posts and it seems like they all had bright blue eyes. And it made me wonder about the color of the babies eyes (once they are done changing) and how bad your HG was.
Vote once for each of your kids, that way it will give a better example instead of grouping all your kids into one vote.

OK I tried to vote a second time and it wouldn't let me, so if you have more than one kid choose the kid who gave you the worst HG

I don't think it's related at all. All of my kids have blue eyes. Based on our genes my husband and I have like a 100% chance of having blue eyed kids. We're boring like that I guess, no variety.

My HG got worse with each kid. It seems the more common thing is for the more severe HG pregnancy the second and so on pregnancies.

DS has blue eyes (mild HG), DD has brown eyes (moderate HG). Don't think eye colour is a factor.

I believe eye color is a factor-- or that genetic descent is at least. I read something a while back that said blue eyed people were more likely to have something (a disease) that sounded like it related to symptoms of HG, and I can't remember what it was!! I will come back on here and post when it comes to me.

Both my children are blue eyed, and both were moderate HG.
Loss at 16 wks in Oct 2012. Now pregnant again! :)

Initial research does conclude that genetics play a role in HG, however I don't believe eye color or gender (or diet, allergies, weight, previous disease/illness) play a roll in HG.

For what its worth, I have brown eyes and my husband has blue eyes. Our DD has brown eyes. I had severe HG with her. In 1992, my BF had brown eyes and I have brown eyes. My HG was just as severe then as well (that pg ended in a termination). My sister has green eyes and would be considered non-HG, just bad NVP (non-medicated).

IMO, HG is a dormant auto-immune disorder that is precipitated by pregnancy. I have no research to back up that claim, its just my observation from reading here and other articles online. I'm hopeful that the current research study will find a cause for HG. I don't think we'll ever find a "cure", but I'm confident that once a cause is found, HG will be treated better - as well as be commonly identified in the medical community.

I have a theory on the blue eyes doesnt work for the browns lol
I have no living children but both my partners have had blue eyes like me so its innevitable we would have blue eyed babies...ALL have been HG...

Im a naturopath and we learn a lot about how blue eyes are lymphatic types...so we tend to have congestion issues and that can include liver.... and digestion....
just a thought

Brown eyes since birth with severe HG - it's all down to melanin. :) My husband's genes won out over my fair skin and hazel eyes.
