For me, it was different with each pregnancy...

#1 - lost 15 lbs during the worst of HG, gained 25 so I ended the pregnancy at 10lbs heavier than pre-pregnancy.

#2 - lost 20lbs before hospitalized at week 9, continued to lose in the hospital but not sure how much. Then I went on to gain all that back AND 40lbs ... have no idea how I did that. She was 9lbs 6oz at birth though.

#3 - lost 10lbs at the worst and have gained 2 back so far. We'll see how I do for the rest of the pregnancy...

Based on my first pregnancy. My pre-pregnancy weight was 120 lbs. I dropped to 98 lbs. by the 12th week when I was hospitalized for a massive clot. I was shocked because I'm 5'7" but my doc still didn't seem to get it that I was having major issues putting and keeping food in me. My end of pregnancy weight was 107 lbs.

Edited to clarify - my end of pregnancy weight was actually back up to 120. I lost 13 with the birth and left the hospital at 107.

I weighed about 10 lbs. more beginning each subsequent pregnancy and by the third I ended up at around 160 but then dropped very rapidly after the birth.

I now hover between 130 - 135.

I will have to explain some of my weight issues

Preg #1
Pre preg 107
at 25 weeks was 21 pds down
at 29 weeks had gained all back
at 33 weeks had gained 8 pds, So up to 115
(alot of my gaining weight back was due to swelling from Preeclampsia and water retention, as my kidneys shut down)
33 weeks 4 days I was 144, gained another 29 pds in four days due to PE
1 Week post 120, down 24 pds
1 month after I finished Beastfeeding I lost another 10 pds so down to 110

Preg #2
Pre preg 110
Lost 10-12 pds by 20 weeks
Gained weight back and was at Pre preg weight at 23 weeks
(due mostly to Preeclampsia again)
I do not know my weight at devilery at 23 1/2 weeks but I was averageing a 10-13 pds weight gain per day and was in the hospital 4 days before delivery. After Delivery i continued to gain my kidneys and liver were completely shut down.
2 weeks post part I was 125-130ish

almost a year post I am down to 112, and am still losing little by little as my body is still in repair.

If it were not for the PE I probably would have escaped strech marks, B/C I have none on my belly but everywhere but.
Brianna severe HG till 25 weeks, Severe Preeclampsia at 33 weeks, Born 1/23/05 at 33 weeks, 3pds 3ounces.

I've had a variety of M/S & HG pregnancies. So, I'll detail them each:

1st: Mild HG or Severe M/S Med-free
Start: 190 (size 14 - My body is heavy, but it's not chubby per say)
Low Point: 174
End: 225
1 year postpartum: 165

2nd Regular old M/S:
Start: 170 (size 10)
Low Point: 164
End: 204
1 year postpartum: I got pregnant again with 10 lbs to lose.

3rd HG severe for 4 months, continued but less severe until end Some Zofran, not much intervention since my OB said, "You're heavy & could lose some weight". I'm taller than some though. I was in a 12/14.
Start: 180
Low point: 154
End: 210
1 year postpartum: 165
DS '01 - Mild HG till 16 wks, Lost 8% of bodyweight, no meds
DD1 '04 - M/S till 14 wks, lost 4% of bodyweight, no meds needed
DD2 '06 - Moderate HG 9 mos, lost 16% of bodyweight, limited meds, poorly managed by Dr :(
Each Child SO Worth It!
DS2 '08 - BEST PREGNANCY EVER! Sooo thankful! http://forums.helpher.org/viewtopic.php?p=288211#288211

Prepreg: 126lbs
Low point: 112lbs
I haven't had the baby yet, so maybe I shouldn't have responded, but as I am sooooo close, I shouldn't gain too much more (right??): 157lbs
I guess we'll see what happens PP!

ETA: Okay, here's my update. I was actually 159lbs when I delivered, and now at 5 months PP I am at 140 lbs and just CAN'T lose any more. :?

I'm fuzzy on some of the details- DH calls it denial. But here's what I remember:

#1
pre-pg: 99
lowest: don't remember- in the 80's
highest: 116 (steroids)
pp: 90 but gained back to 100 after a year

#2

lowest: again, I don't remember but I remember weighing 88 at one point
highest: 104
pp: 95, gained to 100 in 6 months

#3
pre-pg: 105
lowest: 82
highest: 112
pp: a year later was 110

#4
pre-pg: 114 (extra weight helped a lot!)
lowest 93
current weight: 30 weeks, 110 (woo-hoo!)
pp: don't know yet!

This is an oldie, but a goodie thread.

just a bit of background on me. I seemed to have gained a total of 20 pounds in 4 years (the length of time I have been married), 10 pounds put on last year in Oct. when DH and I went on a trip for a month. I was so upset that I ballooned so fast and so much; now I understand why.

I also haven't had my baby yet (still 4 weeks to go) so there may be changes between now and then. But here goes:

I started at 196
I lost 30 in first few months (exactly 166 in the hospital)
started gaining (FINALLY) around 6-7 months
Just getting back to pre-pg weight now

I hope to weigh around my marriage weight, not my pre-pg weight, when I deliver.

I am new to this site. My mom found it for me. Well I was severe with my first pregnancy. I am now prego again and its starting again. I was never told about HG before.

First pg
180 before
145 at 3 months
160 at delivery
I threw up about 7-8 times per day, during and after delivery as well. Its hard to push when your puking.

This pg
I am only 11 weeks along and have already lost 14 pounds and have been in the ER once, and hospitilized for 23 hours once. Both this past week.

If anyone has med ideas (I've tried most of them), please let me know, or tell me what worked for you. Cause if this new drug don't work, doc says I'm in the hospital for a month on IV. Please help!

P.S. Zofran doesn't help me!

Hi and welcome to HER!

Please go and check out the Medications folder for more ideas. There is also more information under the "For Health Professionals" button at the top of this screen.

Another good spot for info is the ladies in the first trimester forum. They would be happy to have you join them there for support.

I am so sorry about the HG but so glad you found us. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:
