Canada - Does anyone know...

If going on STD affects the amount of mat leave pay that you are entitled to.

I am pretty sure that I will need to go on STD because my sick time at work is running out but I don't want to if it will affect the amount that I will get because it's bad enough that I already take a HUGE pay cut while on EI.

I know that my best bet would be to call them and find out but I was just curious if any of you guys had any info?

TIA

If it is your work STD, it shouldn't.

If it is EI's, there are new rules about that saying it shouldn't either.

Thanks :)

It would be through my work and I didn't think that it would make a difference but I hate it when I hear people say that it is based on the last 26 weeks worked.

I have decided to try going back to work on modified duties and half shifts and see how it goes. Then if I really need to, I will go the STD route.

Thanks again

I did go back to work on half shifts to increase as tolerated on Jan 29th...unfortunately, I couldn't even tolerate 1 hour let alone 4 so my OB took me off for the remainder of my pregnancy.
Thank goodness because I really don't know what I would have done, there is no way I could have done my job with this HG being much worse than with my first.

The bad news, I found out that my sick leave time at work is up in April and that I have to go on EI sick leave.
The good news, that I did find out, is that being off and on EI sick will not affect my mat leave pay :)
*phew*
They will calculate my EI sick leave based on the last 26 weeks and I will get the same amount for my mat leave.

Thank you all!
Shirley
