We've got some delightful Aussies here--you can introduce yourself in the HG in Other Countries forum here, too, and they'll be sure to say hi. I'd be happy to line you up with a buddy; just send me an email or PM with your email address, and I'll be in touch.

I would love to have a buddy. My name is Tracy and I live in Topeka, Kansas. Someone local would be wonderful, but I'd be happy just with someone to talk to. :)

I need a buddy! I'm part of a regular parenting forum and no one there understands me and when I vent about how sick I am, since they have no clue, they usually reply with a hugging a smiley and it just makes me feel worse :(

So anyway..My name is Kristen and I'm due Feb. 11th. I'm from Indiana but that doesn't really matter. My email is kristensutton@comcast.net

Ok, I've decided I want, scratch that, need a buddy.

I need someone who will bap me if I start down playing or excusing the OB (though I'm hoping I won't have to).

I live in Texas, though probably nowhere near anyone else. I live in Amarillo which is about 4 hours from any other metropolitan area.

I am 6wks 1 day.

my email is wir2 at lycos dot com

Jill, Kristen, Angie - I'm delving into the volunteer files right now and will be in touch soon. If anyone out there is waiting and hasn't heard anything, please let me know, again and again if necessary. School is starting for me and it takes me a few weeks to settle in, so sometimes I lose track of these things. I do appreciate reminders! :P

I'd like a buddy. Doesn't have to be anyone near me (fortunate, since I live in Hawaii). Thanks!

How do I get my e-mail address to the right person?

I know you'll hear from other ladies near you, but I'll check in soon to make sure you've found support, Heather. Good luck at your OB appointment!

Posted: Tue Nov 28, 2006 5:23 pm Post subject: I could DEFINITELY use a buddy . . .
Hi everyone. I'm new to the site and new to the idea that I'm not crazy and just SUPPOSED to throw up everything I eat while I'm pregnant.

I'm almost 28 weeks (Thursday), and have had worsening HG since my 8th week. I am at the point now that I can't hold down anything solid, and even most liquids are a challenge.

I guess the hardest part was admitting that I needed help. The minute I got pregnant, every woman I talked to told me a horror story about how sick she was, how she felt awful and threw up all the time, so when I started to get sick, I thought "man, pregnant women are TOUGH, this is hard". At my monthly Ob visits, I just told the doctor that I wasn't feeling good and throwing up a lot. He seemed concerned that I was still losing weight (about 25 pounds (14% of my pre-pregnancy weight) in my first 6 months), but told me that as long as I was going to work, I was fine. (I should have told him that it was a HUGE struggle to find the energy to get up and go to work, and that I felt as though a steam roller was continuously rolling over me).

About 23 weeks in (4 1/2 weeks ago), I started having awful muscle cramps in my whole body and passing out, regularly (like 2-3 times a day). I called my doctors office and they told me to make sure that I wasn't standing up too quickly, etc, etc. It wasn't until four weeks ago, when I passed out at the top of my stairway and fell all the way down, that they told me to go to the hospital for evaluation.

By the time I got to the hospital, the baby was fine, but I was at a "critical level" of dehydration. They admitted me and gave me 4 1/2 bags of IV fluids, vitamins, and mecical cocktail to try and rehydrate me. Then, I finally got told that what I was experiencing was not normal morning sickness.

I am still not holding anything down, but I had a PICC line put in before I left the hospital to make sure that I can rehydrate myself at home each night. It makes a world of difference, and I have actually started having calories and vitamins put into my IV fluids each day. I have tried both fenagrin and zofran to no help at all (I can't even hold down the zofran pills . . . ) and feel like I must be the only person in the world who feels this sick. Then I found this website.

I'm basically just looking for a sounding board (my husband is great but I think this is as hard or harder on him than it is on me), and ANYONE with ideas on how to make this easier. Most of the medical stuff I've read says that even with HG, it usually gets easier as time goes on. Is that true? If so, what are you 3rd trimester ladies doing to make life managable?
