A future on SNL??

Postby aaronsmommy » Sep 27, 2007 7:31 pm

Yesterday Aaron spent his whole nap time making up a joke instead of sleeping. He came out of his room so proud of himself and had to tell us the joke right away. It was obviously well rehearsed and told with incredible enthusiasm

"A car was driving down the freeway with a giant potato in the back. A policeman pulled them over and asked "why do you have that humungous potato in your car?" "We're taking it to the zoo" The next day the car is driving down the freeway again with a giant potato in the back and the policeman pulls them over and asks "I thought you were taking that to the zoo" and they answered "That was a different giant potato"

Then he started laughing hysterically.

Oh yes, dh and I were in tears laughing by the end too (and no, I don't get the joke either)

I can just see him telling that with great relish. I didn't get it either, but I laughed.

I also laughed but have no idea what the punch line was supposed to be . It is so amazing when little ones come up with these things.

Thanks for the laugh Aaron and mommy .

I actually do get it   I love the image of him and you cracking up!!

PS--You see, potatoes are individuals, and the first potato was the one that needed to go to the zoo, the second one, er, was a whole NEW spud, and the police officer was fooled into thinking ot was the same one...

I love how their minds work and what they think so funny. Those are great mommy moments!

That made me laugh too. Thank you!

Sarah - I got that far, but it does beg the question of what either of the potatoes were doing at the zoo anyway? Maybe I am overanalysing?!

That's a funny joke, I laughed and I didn't get why it was supposed to be funny either.

HA! It was a DIFFERENT giant potato!!!!! Too bad he's already got his future in politics mapped out; he'd make a killer comedian, too.

I guess the jokes won't hurt when he is out pressing the flesh!

There was certainly something about the zoo, he has come up with a few other versions since then which all involve driving down the freeway, the policeman, and taking strange things to the zoo, but he also still tells the original version which stays the same, almost word for word.

 That's a great one! I like it...don't get it...but I like it.

Everyone with a 6 yo boy needs to ask the punchline's significance, then you'll know, Aimee. They can translate!
