Need some studies to show my OB

Postby ischa27 » Apr 19, 2005 12:14 pm

I went for my preconception visit today. My OB was open to new things but frightening unaware of several things. He would like me to bring in studies on the use of preconception antiemetics, Zofran (he had never heard of it being used), steriod treatment, or anything else (I mentioned Milk Thistle, Dandelion Root). I know there are many out there on especially Zofran...If anyone has any quick links I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks.

There are some good articles in the health professionals forum: http://www.helpher.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=37

Also, here's a link to the medication/research page: http://www.hyperemesis.org/hyperemesis- ... ations.php

Good luck with your doctor. Where are you located? Maybe someone here knows a doctor yours can confer with.

Hi!

Here's a link to Motherisk -- they have a whole collection of medical journal articles posted on their website on NVP and treatment of it: http://www.motherisk.org/drugs/index.ph ... 0Treatment

Hope this helps,

Hi, thanks for the responses.

I am locate in Pennsylvania about an hour from Philadelphia, Allentown, and Harrisburg. My doctor is nice, but I think I may need to go elsewhere if we are really going to give this a go.

He said he doesn't think he would feel comfortable with Zofran until 10 weeks, he would never consider steriods....He however was open to see the studies and talk further. I would like a better option but I just don't know where to find them. I am not sure being an hour away from my OB would be a good idea considering I usually end up in the hospital by 7 weeks.

Thanks again.
