Use of pain medication during IV therapy for head pain

I am currently pregnant with my third child and my third experience with HG. With my first two pregnancies I had severe migraines with dehydration that I was treated for with a variety of pain medications. I have two healthy children, but with every dose of Fiorcet or Nubain I get scared about birth defects. Anyone out there also treated with pain medication and have good outcomes?
