A nutripath gave me options that have helped!

Postby Bonzlee » Sep 18, 2005 1:58 pm

I am so excited and thrilled I'd be jumping up and down if I wasn't worried about throwing up! Last week the HG got so bad I could barely move. I couldn't even go downstairs to get anything to eat. DH was pissed at the doctor because they wouldn't give me any prescription meds and all the OTC remedies they gave me weren't working. So a friend of mine recommended a nutripath -- a holisitic nutritionist. I've never been to one before, but it was fascinating and tremendously helpful.

First he took blood, urine and saliva samples (what he could due to my dehydration). Then he analyzed everything and told me what was out of balance in my body. His theory is that the out of balance is what causes the extreme m/s. So the first thing he said was that I was clearly dehydrated (no duh!). This in turn had made me very constipated. He said everything that was stuck in my colon was what was causing the majority of the nausea because it was dumping toxic stuff back into my bloodstream. I hardly believed him, but I was desperate. He wanted to take a multi-step approach to getting me better.

First, he had me go home and do a couple enemas to clear my colon. I've never done an enema in my life, but I was game. It cleared me out, but the shock to my body also made me throw up. At first I thought he'd made me worse, but about an hour later I was feeling better! He also told me to take something called Colloidal Trace Minerals (also called Iodized Trace Minerals). These help rebalance the environment of the colon. Within four hours of leaving his office I had done 2 enemas and taken the minerals, and my nausea was reduced by about 80%!!!! I was in awe and amazed! I couldn't believe it. He told me to continue doing 3 enemas per day and take the Colloidal Trace Minerals in the morning and the afternoon. I have done that and the majority of my nausea has stayed at bay!!!! Another side effect of the enemas is that it helps to hydrate you, so there is a definite added benefit!

The second thing he had me do was start to drink Whey Protein drink. Whey protein is the easiest protein for the body to digest. He found that I was protein deficient - no duh since I probably hadn't eaten any protein for about 10 days. You can get the whey protein at the healthfood store. I mix one scoop of whey, one teaspoon of Xylitol (to sweeten), 8 oz. of water and 1-1/2 cups of ice. It blends into a smoothing that doesn't taste too bad. The amazing thing is that it actually soothes the stomach. He gave me some in his office before I'd done anything else, and immediately I felt my stomach calming down. I drink this 4 times a day over a slow period of time, and I'm getting about 64 oz. of water by doing so. I couldn't drink anything before. I survived on popsicles or chicken broth if I was feeling okay.

The third thing he's having me do is to reset the ph balance of my body. I don't know if everybody has this problem. He said that my saliva was too acidic, and he thinks that's why I get nauseas when I drink water since water is alkaline. So he's having me eat food that will reset the acidity so it's more alkaline. These include: salmon, lamb, oysters, cauliflower, lentils, butter and heavy cream. I don't eat oysters or lamb, but I love salmon and cauliflower. Cauliflower with butter is just delicious, and believe it or not I ate a whole bowl yesterday! I don't know how long it will take to reset my acid level, but I'm hoping it's soon. I'm dying to drink a big, cold glass of water.

So I started doing all of this last Thursday. By Friday night I was able to eat a decent size meal. I ate salad, pasta and bread at the Olive Garden, and I didn't feel at all sick afterwards and I definitely didn't throw up!! I'm still having some motion sickness issues, but he said that will subside when my body is no longer protein deficient. I'm also still having some nausea, but if I do an enema it goes away completely. To me this is a miracle and I think this guy should write a book or something. I never imagined the m/s could actually improve. But I was desperate, and I'm so glad I was willing to try anything.

If you live in the Los Angeles area and want to pay this guy a visit, email me at bonzlee@verizon.net and I'll give you his info. I hope this info is helpful to somebody here.

Take care,
Bonnie

That is great, Bonnie! I hope it continues to work as well for you. When I was in the midst of HG or even planning to repeat the first couple times, I probably wouldn't have had the energy to wrap my mind around such an unconventional, un-medical approach to treatment. But I've heard some wonderful things from women who've used homeopathy during HG, and this seems to follow along those lines. Very intriguing--thanks for sharing. :)

Bonnie-

Thats awesome!!!! Im so happy you are having such great results with the homepathy :) I too have heard protien can help, although, I personally havent been able to stomach any "meats" since I was 6 weeks along. I do eat a lot of cream cheese though (so there is protien there). Whey protien (if I am not mistaken is milk based?). So, its interesting cream cheese is working so well for me :)

I hope you continue to do well :)

This is very interesting! Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you're doing so much better!

I was forced to use enemas during my last pg. I don't remember how many now, but I had a count going at the time. I think over 100 during the pg. Unfortunately it did nothing for my nausea and vomiting. But then, I didn't follow the rest of what you're doing.

I think the acid/alkaline thing is really interesting and that's one of the things the detox diet addresses too.

Very cool. Again, thanks for taking the time to share this with us!!!

Wow, that is quite fascinating! I feel like visiting a similar specialist here in Oslo! I'll see if I can find one here, and absolutely go! I have the water issue, too. Hmmn! Thanks for sharing!
