Interesting, but there is nothing in their results section that supports their conclusion that restoring that ratio improves symptoms of hg. It is only an abstract, so perhaps there is more to their study, but you would think they would put the important stuff in the abtract - that is the whole point of it. There have been women here who have been on progesterone for various reasons and they have not had any noticeable improvement in their hg symptoms, of course, that is not at all a scientific way of studying the question either.

Yeah it is a little ambiguous on that point. Lost in translation? Just coming back to the forum after my last pregnancy and even in that time more information seems to have come to light. As in all things, no one cause can be blamed, instead there are probably many contributing factors. I read in one article that a distinction had been drawn between two groups; women who had HG up until around the 16 weeks mark and those who had it right through. Makes you wonder if there are two major factors, each of those leading to one or the other (a bit like the types of diabetes). I've been looking for one study that looks at a number of general things like cycle differences, diet (I often think if I wasn't so bad at drinking the right amount of water I wouldn't have gone downhill so quickly last time!), the sort of things you could just find out from surveys. I haven't found one yet but I'm sure it must be out there. :)
I was on cyclizine last time, it did work, but small price to pay.

I think its great that you are finding out what recent research is being done about HG. With regards to progesterone, I had progesterone shots related to fertility treatment for my first pregnancy, did get HG though. Would have loved to have been given details about how the progesterone affected the severity of the HG for those patients that took it.

My Dr is really holistic and alternative minded, and he told me this is used quite a bit outside the US for treating HG and it is often successful. So I gave it a try. I've only been on natural progesterone (troche) for 2 days, but it feels so good! This morning isn't great, but yesterday I went walking at an indoor gym with my family. I couldn't believe it. This is usually the worst time for me. I am also using topical magnesium spray multiple times a day, and I am still taking zofran but just 4 mg in am and 4 mg at night.

Thanks for sharing the egyptian study.
