Hi! I'm 10 wks today. Dr hesitantly said I could up my Zofran pills from 24mg/day to 32mg/day. I would like to take these 8mg pills every 4 hrs during the day only (none at night b/c I seem fine as long as I'm sleeping). Is it ok for me to take it that way? I forgot to ask the dr.

Thanks!

I know I feel better if I am well hydrated with a constant level of Zofran in me, which means getting up at 2am to take one. Annoying, but necessary. I also eat at that point, so I don't wake up hungry. That seems to trigger me worse than anything. So I get up, take the Zofran, and (FOODMENT) eat a full sheet of graham cracker (END OF FOODMENT). Since my last trip for iv fluids on Friday, this seems to be doing the trick.

HTH,

Erin

In my opinion, I would go ahead and take them every 8 hours at first to see if you have relief and then go to every 6 hours if you need more. I would wake up to take it. It works by being on a schedule. I echo the foodment. There is nothing worse than a racing heart and an empty stomach when you are on zofran. I take 24 mg at 6 am, 2 pm, and 10 pm.

You could break 2 of them in half and take 4 mg every 4 hours - and maybe take a full 8mg right before bed to last you through the night.

I would set the alarm and take them more regularly--the data available is on a consistent amount being in your system, so there is no way to know if more frequent dosing is too much.

Oh--I meant to add that I wasn't able to make it 4 hours between doses (I was on the 4mg) so I took it every three hours. I like the idea that someone had to take 4mgs more often as opposed to taking 8 mgs more often than recommended.
