Does anyone have any personal experience (or anecdotes) about the local doctors?

I am looking for a *good* Gyn/OB who will understand my fear of HG, not be coercive against my belief in Fertility Awareness as a Birth Control, and (if I get pregnant again) will understand my needs and not undermine my efforts. I also need him/her to be able to handle infertility issues caused by an autoimmune disorder.

Hi, I hope that you have been able to find a new Doctor. If you were unable to do so this far, please try the following:

1. Call around to your local OB offices (if you have insurance, start with the ones in your plan).

2. Tell the person answering the phone that you are trying to find a new OB who has knowledge of HG. Ask them to find out whether or not the Doctor has dealt with previous patients with HG before.

3. If you are told yes, set up an interview with the OB (most will do this free of charge).

4. Have a list of questions to ask the OB when you go for your interview. You need to be sure of their idea of aggressive treatment to get you through your pregnancy.

This is how I found my wonderful OB for my second pregnancy. He was very understanding and wrote me a script during the interview. He also told me how he would handle my treatment.

I hope this helps.

:hugs:

I'm in Birmingham, AL and have an AMAZING ob!!!!! Her name is Karla Kennedy, and she's with Women's Care Specialists at Brookwood. This is my second pregnancy with her and with HG. I don't know her experience with other issues, but she's worked extremely well with me through complications with asthma and loss of my son's twin. I could not recommend her more highly. If you'd like, send me a personal message, and I'll answer any other questions about her and her practice that I can.

Good luck. I hope she works out for you.
