GI Doctor that deals with HG

Postby kts » Oct 24, 2007 8:00 pm

Hello

I just saw my ob/gyn and she is referring me to a GI doctor. He doesn't seem very educated on HG.

I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good GI and ob/gyn that deals with HG.

thanks

Karen,

Would you mind posting where you are? It would help if anyone knows of someone to suggest. I don't really remember anyone going to an GI with HG experience but I'm sure there must be someone on here with some experience in that.

Oh boy, I think that is going to be tough.

I also got the pleasure of seeing the GI doctors, and somehow I managed to see all of them that worked at that hospital. They were all pretty clueless and intimidated by the HG but there were 2 that were still quite helpful, and 2 that were awful, and one that was nice but never had much to offer.

My OB had a GI specialist come in (not instead of her - but in addition to her) to check my gallbladder and liver. HG symptoms can be made worse if your Gallbladder is in bad shape. And - I think HG can actually cause problems with your gallbladder too.

The specialist definitely didn't know much about HG at all - but did find sludge in my gallbladder that they will watch. Also - he tried to evaluate why my liver wasn't functioning properly and actually never came to a conclusion. The OB and GI specialist came to the conclusion that it was all due to HG.

So, I think it's beneficial to see a GI specialist - but certainly not IN PLACE of seeing your OB.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!
