Unfortunately there aren't any doctors in Atlanta on the Referral Network here. But I'm sure we can find a good one for you!

If you will let me know your HG background (what meds you tried, how long HG lasted, how many pregnancies, if you needed hydration or nutritional therapies, if you tried steroids, etc.), that will really help. Have you seen any OBs in Atlanta? Also, if you know a few hospitals in your area where you'd like to deliver, that would be good.

I know we can find someone great for you!

Thank you for replying. Here's my history. My very first experience w/HG ended w/me terminating the pg due to severe nausea & vomiting, excessive weight loss, inability to handle day to day tasks. My dr at the time advised my mother, since I was young, to terminate because they had tried "everything" to ease the vomiting. The second experience, I was considerable older and thought the previous experience was an isolated illness. By week 6, I was experiencing the severe nausea and vomiting all over again. Again and again I was advised that it was all normal. I started to rapidly lose weight...my body was in starvation mode. My dr became concerned. He started giving me phenegran. This worked at first but quickly became ineffective in its pill form. I went to supp. This worked for awhile. My "treatment" seemed to be phenegran until dehydration then 24 hr hospital stay. Followed by 2-4 days of semi-self and then the cycle started over again. By the time the dr perscribed reglan, my water broke and I m/c at 17 weeks. This third time around, I found a new dr. He was somewhat knowledgeable in HG and diagnosed it when I was 9 weeks. For 6 weeks we tried phenegran. After that, my doctor decided to try reglan. I felt better than I ever had. But at 18 weeks, my water broke and I again lost another child. Basically, the only meds I've tried are phenegran and reglan. I never knew there were other courses of action until I found this site, 2 years after the last m/c. Hopsitals in Atl that I am close to are Dekalb Medical and Northside. My last OB was in Conyers, Ga, 25 min outside of Atl. I'm at a loss. We don't have any kids. I don't want to give up w/o exhausting all possibilities.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about all that you have been through in your journey to have a child. My heart aches for what you have experienced. You are brave to try again and I want you to know that you have so much support from the women here at this forum. Many have experienced losses themselves and have been able to face HG again for their babies.

I'm sorry to hear that you were not given anything besides phenergan and reglan. Zofran usually helps most HGers, and there are so many other options to choose from! There are other folders on this forum where different treatments are discussed.

I will see if I can find some good doctors in your area. I'll be in touch.

Anna,

I just noticed that your Elizabeth had a birthday in June. She's a big 2-year-old now! How's she doing?

Hi Rebecca -

Yes, Elizabeth just turned 2 this week! She insisted that it was her "pink birthday," so we had a pink cake and pink candles and everything. It was classic. On her birthday I kept thinking that she was soooo worth all the HG! I'm so grateful to have her. I can't believe that it's been two years since she was born...time goes so fast!

How is Tierra?

There are quite a lot of Maternal-Fetal Medicine doctors in the Atlanta area. If you go to http://www.smfm.org/index.cfm?zone=search&nav=doctor and put in Atlanta, Georgia, you will find a long list of MFM doctors. Especially with your history of HG, I think it would be worthwhile to see this kind of specialist.

A couple days ago I posted a Sticky in this folder - Ways to Find a Physician. I think the different ideas there may really help you, and I'll keep looking as well.

I'll let you know what I find!

Thank you so much. I actually found a doctor on the list that's close to the one I was using. A few more miles in the opposite direction won't hurt me.

Anna,

That's great! It sounds like you had fun.

Tierra is doing really well. Just went to her 9-month appointment and she's still in the 3rd percentile, but she's perfectly healthy. She's still not crawling, but that's okay with me. It's sort of getting close to her one-year birthday. Sept. 15 will be the big day. I'm hesitant to have a big party, but she loves people so much that I think we probably will. She would have a blast.

I agree about HG being worth it. Our sweet little babies are completely worth 9 months of HG misery. My dh and I were talking with my sister and bil, and my dh said the sweetest thing. My bil wants to be a dentist because he wants to make a lot of money and they don't have any kids yet, and my dh told him "Lots of money won't bring you happiness. Kids are what brings you happiness." :) I've just never heard him say anything like that before and it was so sweet! I just love my little girl and I hope I can have another one soon.
