Disability in Washington State

Postby sonnenschein_britta » Aug 21, 2006 11:50 pm

Hi! Does anyone out there know where I can get more information on disability in Washington State? I am self-employed and had to miss two months of work. I haven't had much luck just hunting on the internet, so I was hoping someone would have some info. Thanks! Sunshine

This is just a guess, but I'm thinking you'll have to go to the federal level for disability. Unfortunately, it's my unstanding that you have to be unable to work for a minimum of one year to quality for federal disability.

The disability payments that most pregnant women get are through short-term disability insurance provided by the company they work for. I'm thinking your best bet is going to be to look at other social services like welfare and whatever Washington's version of WIC (Women Infants and Children) is called.
