$ Donations Needed

Postby Ivydragon » Sep 22, 2005 3:23 pm

Hi to everyone. You know I rarely do this, but I know that so many of you want to help with the DC trip and contribute and can't travel or speak, but want to do something!

I have known Kimber for about 4 1/2 years now, and from time to time she mentions how much money she has spent working on the website and foundation. Thousands each year. She and the Kings fund 90% of what it costs to do everything for the Website, Foundation, and Forums - and that even meant paying for our forum to be created so we could move here 18 months ago and our membership has quadrupled!

They are out of funding for the DC trip, and still have to finish creating visuals and now must fund a catered breakfast in order to ensure the best turnout possible in attendance, and we all know that's a good thing! We need HG exposed to as many as possible! I asked her permission to recommend donating $, and so I am.

Let me also share with you that everyone who is going to speak is going on their own dime, and we all volunteer our time. People in the real world are shocked that I'm willing to spend my own money to go speak in DC for the foundation, and I'm shocked that they are shocked! Others think I should be paid for my time, and I promise you that I have never been paid. Anyways, any money that is donated is used specifically for things like visuals in DC and updating the website and funding publicized research!

You can go to this link, or to the home page and click on donate now. It is fast and easy and you can do it with a credit card. We are all living testaments that lots of little things add up, so if you can literally afford $5.00, then donate $5.00. There are amounts set that are easy on anyone - even when we are poor HGers! I bet some of us can find an extra $100 laying around . . . is any one of us secretly rich? hehe.

So if you have really wanted to help, and have been wondering how you can, here it is: https://secure.ga3.org/03/dc2005

Is this something that is going to be up from now on? I would like to have an ongoing place to donate, like a donation treasure box. Maybe stuck up somewhere permanate?

It is permanent, and there has always been a donate now button on the front page - it's just overlooked a lot.

I don't know if there is a Paypal link. I would ask Kimber if I were you. Are you having problems submitting the amount or something? Or is the link just not working? I know that when I click on it, a little box comes up and I have to click "yes" twice before it will pull up. You can also get to the Donation page from the Home page, and by clicking on Donate Now. I can't remember if you're really computer savvy or not. I myself am not nearly as savvy as some of the ladies here!

If you could be more specific, and also let us know the solution, maybe it'll help others, too? Sorry, I know not very helpful. I know nothing about the behind the scenes stuff outside of the forum, and only some of that, which is ok by me, cause I'm busy enough already. :)

It is the link itself. I tried using the link you gave me as well as going in from the home page. May possibly be a security issue ( on my end). Cannot log onto the forums through AOL at all , I have to go through MSN. I will try to figure it out.
Yes, I am a bit of a computer dork.

Donate Now Button/Link

Postby Kimber » Sep 23, 2005 5:13 pm

Ladies, there is always a big, smiling baby on the front page where the donate button is (right side of the screen). Just click there and it will take you to a screen where you can donate by credit card. We had a paypal account and if you prefer to use that, I can ask Ann Marie if it is still active. I just used the link on the front page and it worked fine. Give it another try.

Thanks!

Kimber, I tried the baby link earlier. It is my computer I think. I will keep trying. What is happening, the page just hangs when I try to open it.

Without a doubt, some of my first paycheck (in 5 months...yikes) will be donated.
