Zofran in Canada

Postby bibliojo » Oct 21, 2004 4:00 pm

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone in Canada has been able to get Zofran for HG. I looked up Zofran on the BC Pharmacare website and it said that it's available but you'd have to get special permission from your doctor and then the government to have it covered by Pharmacare. Anybody jumped through these hoops successfully?

For those of you who are interested...

I have talked to my OB/GYN dr about the availablity of Zofran in Canada and he has done some investigating for me and has concluded that this is an option. However, it's moreso an option that will be used if Diclectin, Gravol, Stemetil and Maxeran aren't effective enough in curbing the nausea and vomiting.

If your dr is a GP, I don't know that they would be aware of this option (My GP didn't know and even my OB dr had to do some research into it) Instead, you probably will have ask to be referred to a specialist in order to get it.

Hope this helps somebody.

Hi Joanna,

I had Zofran prescribed last year. It was covered partially by mine and partially by my husbands blue cross coverage.
