CVS and amnio update

Postby mom2matt » Jul 08, 2004 10:38 pm

What a day...some info you may not know about these two procedures..... Beacuse of my bleeding and twins and HG, our specialist recommended a CVS...ok..scheduled.. End result..

Only 1 CVS could be preformed on (baby A)..the other placenta was to far up to reach thru the cerivx, and my cerix was bleeding..she thought it may be placentia previa...

So last minute option to do a amnio on (baby B)...turns out the 'sack' around baby B would not allow the needle thru for the amnio..no go..

One last idea, CVS thru the tummy'..I did not know these procedures were all done without a topical anestheic!! YYEEOoooWWW.
Ples Im bleeding in two large uteral areas..and baby B has a very small placentia..there not sure the got the right sample...its all they could do.

Nothing is going to be easy it seems..my husband thinks I'm a trooper..(Im such a chicken) dont tell him..

Wow, sounds like you're really going through a lot. No topical?!? I'm such a big needle weenie! We really need an icon for a person going pale just for me, lol.

I hope everything turns out ok with the testing. Are they concerned about the twin's small placenta, or is it just a defining point to tell them apart?

Huge hugs, Andy

We have started dealing with the bad news, baby B with the small, nearly unable to find placenta, which continues to bleed, will probably not make it...a secound bleed has begun and cervix is showing signs of stress. No one has answer for us. We are seeing another specialist later in the week when the cvs/amnio results are in. There is early talk about trying to save the preg. by reduction of the one with complications...

hey shlby,
i'm so sorry to hear about your babies. i hope that they will both pull through. it is such a helpless feeling and the waiting is brutal. i am currently waiting to have an u/s on monday to see if the blood clot in my uterus has been reabsorbed or if it has stopped the development of the baby and will eventually cause a m/c. my odds are 50/50. i wanted answers that the dr. just couldn't give me. i hope that your drs can give you the answers you want to hear. you will be in my thought and please keep us posted. best wishes,
kim

Oh, Kim, Last year I miscarried, and I only had to wait a few hours from the time I first really wondered if I was until I knew for sure and it was torturous enough. I cannot even imagine having to wait longer. Our hopes and prayers are with you.
